In one of the biggest surprises of the 2026 women’s football transfer window, Jamaican superstar Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City Women despite widespread reports that she was set to leave the club and join rivals Chelsea Women.
The new agreement is reportedly worth around £4 million over four years, making Shaw one of the highest-paid players in women’s football history.
The 29-year-old striker announced the news dramatically during Manchester City’s title celebration event, telling fans: “I’m still here and still hungry.”
For months, multiple reports suggested Shaw would leave on a free transfer after contract talks stalled. Chelsea were believed to be favorites to sign her with an offer exceeding £1 million per year.
Instead, City made a late push to keep their star forward and reportedly broke their wage structure to secure the deal. Shaw has been sensational this season:

- 21 goals in 22 WSL matches
- Third straight Women’s Super League Golden Boot
- Helped City win their first WSL title in a decade
- Became City’s all-time leading scorer with 117 goals
The decision is seen as a massive statement by Manchester City ahead of next season’s title race and Champions League campaign.
