CASABLANCA, Morocco — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled a striking new trophy for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024, presenting a powerful new symbol that reflects the rapid growth, rising status and bright future of women’s football across the African continent.
The trophy was revealed during a special ceremony hosted by CAF and its long-standing partner, TotalEnergies, in Casablanca on Wednesday evening, just days before Africa’s premier women’s football tournament gets underway in Morocco.

More than simply introducing a new piece of silverware, CAF says the trophy represents its long-term vision of placing women’s football alongside the men’s game while celebrating equality, excellence and African unity.
A Trophy Inspired by Equality
The newly designed trophy draws inspiration from the iconic TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations trophy, reinforcing CAF’s commitment to giving equal recognition to women’s football.
Its elegant structure features identical petals rising upward in a spiral formation, with each petal representing one of the participating national teams. Together, they create the image of a blooming flower a symbol of growth, opportunity, resilience and the continued development of women’s football throughout Africa.
At the centre of the design sits a golden football-shaped sphere decorated with a gleaming map of Africa, reflecting the continent’s ambition to become one of the world’s leading forces in the women’s game.
The trophy itself combines polished silver and matte gold finishes, while a gold ring engraved with the CAF logo surrounds its body, highlighting the Confederation’s commitment to investing in the women’s game across its 54 member associations.
Completing the design is a white marble base accented with elegant gold detailing and the official competition title, giving the trophy a prestigious appearance worthy of Africa’s biggest women’s football championship.
More Than Silverware
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has repeatedly stressed that the development of women’s football remains one of the organisation’s highest priorities, and the introduction of the new trophy reflects that commitment.
In recent years, CAF has significantly increased investment in women’s competitions through improved prize money, greater commercial partnerships, expanded television coverage and enhanced support for youth development programmes.
The unveiling of the new trophy is widely viewed as another important milestone in that ongoing transformation.

A Symbol of Inspiration
Beyond crowning Africa’s next champions, the trophy is expected to become a lasting symbol for future generations.
CAF believes the new design will inspire millions of young girls across Africa to pursue their football dreams by demonstrating that the women’s game continues to receive greater recognition, respect and opportunity at the highest level.
With the tournament set to kick off in Morocco, the continent’s leading players will now compete not only for continental glory but also for the honour of becoming the first team to lift the new Women’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
As African women’s football continues to reach new heights both on and off the pitch, CAF hopes the trophy will stand as a lasting emblem of equality, ambition and excellence for many years to come.
