Loza Abera: Carrying Ethiopia’s Pride Across the Atlantic
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

By any measure, 2025/26 has been a defining season for Ethiopian forward Loza Abera. In a league filled with international talent and rising stars, the captain of Ethiopia’s national team has continued to prove that she belongs on one of women’s football’s growing stages in North America.

For many Ethiopian football fans, Loza’s journey is about more than statistics. It is a story of resilience, ambition, and representation. Every goal she scores and every match she plays carries the hopes of a nation that has produced world-class athletes on the track and is now seeking greater recognition on the football field.

A Season of Influence

Loza has been one of DC Power FC’s most influential attacking players this season, recording seven goals, two assists, 25 chances created, and 41 shots while making 27 appearances. Her contributions have made her one of the club’s leading offensive threats and among the notable goal scorers in the USL Super League.

Beyond the numbers, her impact can be felt in the way she leads the attack. Whether dropping deep to create opportunities for teammates or driving forward in search of goals, Loza has become a player opponents must constantly watch.

More Than a Footballer

When Loza joined DC Power FC, she became one of the most visible Ethiopian footballers competing in professional women’s soccer in the United States. Her move represented another milestone in a remarkable career that has taken her from local football in Ethiopia to professional clubs abroad.

For young Ethiopian girls dreaming of a future in football, Loza’s success offers something invaluable: proof that the pathway exists.

Leading by Example

Throughout her career, Loza has never relied solely on talent. Her rise has been built on determination, discipline, and a relentless desire to improve. Those qualities have helped her become a leader for both club and country.

In a season where DC Power FC has faced challenges and continued to build its identity as a young club, Loza’s performances have provided moments of inspiration and optimism. Her goals have given supporters reasons to believe, while her work ethic has set a standard for teammates around her.

The Bigger Picture

Women’s football is experiencing unprecedented growth worldwide, and players like Loza Abera are helping ensure that Africa and Ethiopia in particular remain part of that story.

Her success is not simply a personal achievement. It is a reminder that talent can emerge from anywhere and that opportunities for African women in professional football continue to expand.

As the season progresses, Loza Abera remains more than just a striker. She is an ambassador for Ethiopian football, a role model for the next generation, and a symbol of what is possible when talent meets opportunity.

For Ethiopia, every goal she scores is more than a statistic it is another chapter in a journey that continues to inspire.
