BREAKING: Nigeria, Ghana, Benin and Tanzania Qualify for FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026

Africa’s four representatives for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 have officially been confirmed, with Nigeria, Ghana, Benin and Tanzania securing qualification for the global tournament scheduled for 5–27 September 2026.
Nigeria’s Falconets extended their remarkable record by qualifying for a 12th appearance at the competition, while Ghana’s Black Princesses booked another return to the world stage after another strong qualifying campaign.
The biggest stories of the qualifiers, however, came from Benin and Tanzania. Both nations reached the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup for the first time in their history, marking a major milestone for women’s football development in Africa.

For Tanzania, the qualification is especially historic. The East African nation will make its debut at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after eliminating Cameroon in one of the biggest surprises of the CAF qualifiers. The achievement is being celebrated as a breakthrough moment for Tanzanian women’s football and a sign of the country’s growing investment in the women’s game.
Benin also continued its rapid rise in women’s football by securing a first-ever World Cup qualification, further highlighting the growing strength of emerging African nations on the international stage.
Notably, three of Africa’s four qualified teams came from the WAFU B region, once again underlining the dominance and competitiveness of West African women’s football at youth level.
The CAF qualification campaign was played through a home-and-away knockout format across the continent, with teams battling through several rounds to secure one of Africa’s four places at Poland 2026.
